Louis Wierenga is a Lecturer in International Relations at the Baltic Defence College, a NATO-accredited education and training facility located in Tartu, Estonia.
Louis offers lectures on NATO, security and foreign policy, the international security environment, AI and emerging disruptive technologies, and European politics focusing primarily on Central and East Europe, and the Baltic states.
Louis currently researches AI and emerging technologies, foreign and security policy, and the strategic culture of NATO’s Eastern Flank. He is currently a researcher for a Horizon Europe project, REMIT (Reignite Multilateralism via Technology), and an Associated Researcher with the Latvian Institute of International Affairs.
Before entering academia, Louis was in the United States Marine Corps, serving in the infantry.
