Dr. Zbigniew Piec is the Director for Central and Eastern Europe at GA-ASI International Strategic Development, responsible for business capture initiatives across the company full line of remotely piloted aircraft systems, radars, and electro-optic and related mission systems. Dr. Piec has extensive engineering and management experience in development of systems for the Thermonuclear Fusion, and Aeronautical Industry.
His professional career counting thirteen years at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), three years at MKS, and twenty-one years at General Atomics.
During International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) Engineering Design Activities (largest international alliance, 1992–1998), MIT seconded Dr. Piec to the Joint Central Team operating at the Japanese Atomic Energy Institute in Japan to lead the engineering and international R&D for ITER Superconducting Magnet System.
Since joining GA in 2003, he directed the critical development tasks for the superconducting submarine propulsion motor built for the US Office of Naval Research. Dr. Piec managed international engineering development, fabrication, and cryogenic high-power testing of the Superconducting Central Solenoid Modules for ITER tokamak, currently built in France.
Dr. Piec is leading the GA-ASI business development in Poland, appointed to discuss and negotiate agreements between GA-ASI and Polish MoD, PGZ, Polish Industry, Technical Institutions, and Universities. His sustained contributions over the years resulted in the signature of the lease contract with the Polish MoD, 2x MQ-9A Block 5 plus 1x CGCS), with prospect to acquisition of MQ-9B’s based systems.
Dr. Piec holds a M.S. from the Technical University of Lodz (Poland), M.S.ME from the Northeastern University, and Ph. D. from MIT, both in Boston Mass.
