Torch is the Deputy Head of the Air and Space Group (ASG) and Head of the
Safety/Quality/Training and Standards (SQT) Business Capability Area (BCA) at Metrea.
The ASG is comprised of four business units, presenting “effects as-a-service”
capabilities to military, civil government, and commercial customers in areas such as
manned airborne ISR, air-to-air refueling, airborne firefighting, and FAA part 135
executive aviation. The Metrea ASG also operates two FAA part 145 MROs and
develops new technology through dedicated space and air concept development labs.
Torch retired in October 2021 as a Major General after serving over 32 years in the United States Air Force (USAF), most recently as Special Assistant to the Commander, Air Combat Command (ACC). Prior to his role at ACC, Torch served as the Chief of Staff, United States Forces Korea (USFK), U.S. Army Garrison Humphreys, South
Korea. Torch also served as Director of Defense Cybersecurity in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy (OSD/P) at the Pentagon, Commandant of Cadets, U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA), and Director of Air and Cyberspace
Operations, Headquarters Pacific Air Forces (PACAF).
Torch earned his commission from the USAFA in 1989 where he was the top graduate in
Engineering Mechanics. A distinguished graduate in pilot training and career F-16 pilot with more than 3,000 flying hours, including more than 260 combat hours, Torch commanded operational units at the squadron and wing levels. While deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom he earned the 2007 McKay Trophy for the most meritorious sortie of the year.
