Adam Burakowski, PhD, Professor at the Polish Academy of Sciences, born 1977 - Institute of Political Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences, political scientist, former Polish Ambassador to India and South Africa. Specialist in Central and Eastern Europe, in particular Romania, South Asia and South Africa. Graduated in History from the University of Warsaw and in Eastern Studies from the University of Warsaw. He received his PhD in 2007 and his habilitation in 2015 from his alma mater, the Institute of Political Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences. From 2006 to 2017, he worked at Polskie Radio in various positions concerning international cooperation, including coordinator of the Euranet project funded by the European Commission. He has worked with the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington DC and with a number of universities in Central and Eastern Europe and India. From 2017 to 2023, he was the Polish Ambassador to India (with accreditation for Afghanistan, among others), and from 2023 to 2024 he was the Polish Ambassador to South Africa. Author of numerous books and other publications on Central and Eastern Europe and South Asia.
