Major Sam Clarys graduated as an Officer of the Medical Services and went on to become one of the few Paracommando Medical Planners within the Belgian Medical Component. He has held functions as Medical Platoon Commander, Medical Battalion S3 and various Medical Planning posts at the Belgian Medical Operational Command. He has participated to operations, training and courses worldwide. As Medical Planner he has developed medical support plans in Jordan, Mali, Estonia and Lithuania for a variety of Belgian operations. Many of his missions were linked to his main specialisation of Medical Planner for Special Operations and allowed him to be active in a variety countries such as Afghanistan, Iraq, Gabon, Democratic Republic of the Congo and Burkina Faso. Here lectures are offered on medical theory and medical operational planning for a varied audience of Belgian and international Officers engaging in continued education.
